Microsoft MCSA-MCSE Networking PC Certification Courses - Some Thoughts

There are not many 'Windows' NT Servers still about, though Server 2000 are still quite prevalent. The most prolific is Server 2003, with server '08 still in it's early days. Since Server 2003 remains the dominant in commerce, the company's primary certifications still centre upon this. While the 'MCSA' & 'MCSE' accreditations have been about for some years now, (following 'Windows' server through it's development,) the Microsoft MCSA 2003 & MCSE '2003' remain the main-stay of present day MS Network accreditation. It must however be borne in mind that up-grade training to server 08 is imminent, & sensible where feasible.

Qualifications from the commercial sector are now, very visibly, beginning to replace the traditional routes into the IT sector - so why has this come about? With an ever-increasing technical demand on resources, the IT sector has had to move to specialist courses that can only come from the vendors - namely companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA. This usually turns out to involve less time and financial outlay. In a nutshell, only that which is required is learned. It's not quite as straightforward as that, but the most important function is always to concentrate on the fundamentally important skill-sets (alongside some required background) - without trying to cram in everything else (as degree courses are known to do).

What if you were an employer - and you needed to take on someone with a very particular skill-set. What should you do: Go through a mass of different academic qualifications from various applicants, having to ask what each has covered and which commercial skills have been attained, or choose particular accreditations that precisely match your needs, and then choose your interviewees based around that. You'll then be able to concentrate on getting a feel for the person at interview - instead of long discussions on technical suitability.

Authorised exam simulation and preparation software is crucial - and must be supplied by your training provider. Avoid depending on unofficial exam papers and questions. The way they're phrased is often somewhat different - and sometimes this can be a real headache when it comes to taking the real exam. Be sure to have some simulated exam questions in order to test your comprehension at all times. Mock exams add to your knowledge bank - then you're much more at ease with the real thing.

It's so important to understand this key point: You absolutely must have proper 24x7 support from professional instructors. You will have so many problems later if you let this one slide. some companies only provide email support (slow), and phone support is often to a call-centre that will make some notes and then email an advisor - who will attempt to call you within 24-48 hrs, at a suitable time to them. This is not a lot of use if you're stuck and can't continue and can only study at specific times.

We recommend looking for training schools that use several support centres around the globe in several time-zones. All of them should be combined to offer a simple interface and round-the-clock access, when you want it, with no hassle. You can't afford to accept a lower level of service. Support round-the-clock is the only viable option for technical study. Perhaps you don't intend to study during the evenings; usually though, we're at work at the time when most support is available.
