Thoughts on Microsoft IT Multimedia Self-Paced CBT PC Certification Courses

Congratulations! Finding this article proves you must be contemplating your career, and if you're considering retraining then you've already got further than the majority of people will. Can you believe that surprisingly few of us consider ourselves contented at work - but the majority will do absolutely nothing about it. Why not stand out from the crowd and take action - don't you think you deserve it.

We recommend you seek advice first - find someone who knows the industry; an advisor who can get to the bottom of what you'll like in a job, and work out what learning programs which will get you there:

* Would you like to work with others? If so, do you like working with the same people or are you hoping to meet new people? Or would you rather work alone with a task?

* What do you need from your chosen industry? (Things do change - look at the building trade, or banks for example.)

* How long a career do you hope to have once retrained, and will the market sector provide you with that possibility?

* Would you like your retraining to be in a market sector where you know you'll have a job up to retirement age?

We request you to find out more about Information Technology - there are a larger number of roles than staff to fill them, because it's a rare career choice where the market sector is expanding. Contrary to the opinions of certain people, it isn't just geeks gazing at their computer screens all day long (if you like the sound of that though, they do exist.) Most positions are filled by people like you and me who like receiving larger than average salaries.

One feature that many training companies provide is a Job Placement Assistance program. This is designed to steer you into your first IT role. The honest truth is that it isn't so complicated as you might think to land your first job - once you're trained and certified; employers in this country need your skills.

You would ideally have help with your CV and interview techniques though; also we would encourage everyone to work on polishing up their CV as soon as they start a course - don't wait for when you're ready to start work. It's not uncommon to find that junior support jobs are offered to trainees who are still studying and have yet to take their exams. This will at least get your CV into the 'possible' pile and not the 'no' pile. Generally, an independent and specialised local employment service (who will, of course, be keen to place you to receive their commission) should get better results than any recruitment division from a training organisation. They should, of course, also know the area and local employers better.

Not inconsiderable numbers of men and women, so it seems, invest a great deal of time on their training course (sometimes for years), and then just stop instead of finding a good job. Introduce yourself... Work hard to put yourself out there. Don't think a job's just going to jump out in front of you.

Considering the amount of options that are available, there's no surprise that nearly all career changers get stuck choosing the job they could be successful with. How likely is it for us to understand what is involved in a particular job if we've never been there? Often we don't even know anybody who is in that area at all. Ultimately, an informed conclusion will only come through a meticulous examination across many unique factors:

* Your personality can play an important role - what things get your juices flowing, and what are the activities that put a frown on your face.

* What time-frame are you looking at for the training process?

* What priority do you place on travelling time and locality vs salary?

* Learning what the normal work areas and sectors are - and what differentiates them.

* What effort, commitment and time you will spend on getting qualified.

For the majority of us, getting to the bottom of so much data requires a good chat with an experienced pro that knows what they're talking about. And we don't just mean the certifications - but also the commercial needs and expectations besides.
